TV Wall Molding Layout for a 65 Inch TV

A three-frame feature wall for a 65" TV (about 57" wide) on a typical 12 ft wall. The centre frame is the item width plus 12", so it frames the bed or TV with 6" breathing room on each side; the side frames split the remaining wall evenly.

Answer: on a 12 ft wall behind a 65" TV (about 57" wide), use a 5' 9" (175 cm) centre frame with two 2' 1.5" (65 cm) side frames, all 6' 2" (188 cm) tall, spaced 6" (15 cm) apart.

Cut list

Piece Qty Length each
Centre frame: horizontal 2 5' 9" (175 cm)
Centre frame: vertical 2 6' 2" (188 cm)
Side frame: horizontal 4 2' 1.5" (65 cm)
Side frame: vertical 4 6' 2" (188 cm)

Total molding: 57 linear ft (17.4 m). Order about 63 linear ft to cover miters and offcuts (+10%).

How to install this layout

Questions about this wall size

How wide should molding be behind a 65" TV?

Make the centre frame the item width plus about 12": 5' 9" (175 cm) here, so the edges stay visible.

What if my wall is wider?

Keep the centre frame the same and widen only the two side frames; the gaps stay identical.
