How the wallpaper calculator works
The calculator divides wall width by usable roll width to find strip count. Strip length is rounded up to accommodate the pattern repeat, then multiplied by the number of strips and compared with the length available in each roll.

A pattern with a large repeat can require a longer cut for every strip even when the wall area is unchanged. That is why two wallpapers with the same roll coverage can produce different roll counts for the same room.
Order all rolls from one dye lot when possible. Add extra material for complex corners, damaged strips, future repairs and walls that are not plumb. Verify whether the seller lists single rolls, double rolls or metric sizes.
Frequently asked questions
Why is roll count higher than square footage suggests?
Wallpaper is installed in full-height strips. Pattern matching and leftover partial lengths can make nominal roll coverage misleading.
Should doors and windows be subtracted?
Small openings often do not reduce strip count because strips still span around them. Treat large openings carefully and keep a practical waste margin.
What if the wallpaper has no pattern repeat?
Enter zero or the smallest supported value; the tool can then use the wall height plus trimming allowance without repeat rounding.
