For a 144 × 96 in wall with four columns, three rows and 2.5 in battens, the tool subtracts the grid members before dividing the remaining space. The result is the clear opening size—not a rough centerline guess.
Keep switches, outlets and return vents visible in your sketch. If a wall is not square, work from the smallest verified measurement and leave a modest installation allowance. Prime cut ends before installation for a cleaner painted finish.

What is a good accent-wall grid size?
Start with the wall proportions. Wider walls often suit four or five columns; smaller bedrooms may look calmer with three. Use the preview dimensions rather than copying a fixed grid.
Does the estimate include waste?
Yes. Set the waste field for your cutting plan; ten percent is a practical starting point for straight, repeatable cuts.
