Custom Wall Molding: Cut to Your Exact Wall Size

Custom wall molding is trim measured and cut for your exact wall instead of a standard size. Send your wall width and height and you get a layout drawing plus every piece cut, mitered and numbered to match it.

How a custom order works

  1. Send wall width, height, and the positions of doors, windows or outlets.
  2. We return a free layout drawing with frame sizes and spacing.
  3. You approve or ask for changes.
  4. Pieces are cut, primed, numbered and shipped flat, usually 2 to 4 business days after approval.

When custom beats standard

Odd wall widths, walls broken by a door or window, stairs, sloped ceilings, and any wall where you want the frames to line up exactly with furniture.

Why exact sizing matters

Standard kits are built for 8, 10 or 12 ft walls. On an 11 ft wall a 10 ft kit leaves a 6 inch strip at each end, and a 12 ft kit does not fit. A custom kit recalculates frame width so the gaps stay equal. Compare:

8 ft wall, 8 ft ceiling

On an 8 ft wall use 3 upper and 3 lower frames, each 2' 2.5" (67 cm) wide, spaced 4" (10 cm) apart, with a chair rail at 3' (91 cm). Total about 78 linear ft with waste.

11 ft wall, 8 ft ceiling

On an 11 ft wall the layout changes to 4 upper and 4 lower frames, each 2' 4" (71 cm) wide, spaced 4" (10 cm) apart. Total about 107 linear ft with waste.

Common questions

Is custom wall molding more expensive than a standard kit?

Usually not by much. Kits start from about $53; the price depends on total length of trim, not on whether the sizes are standard.

What measurements do I need?

Wall width at three heights (floor, middle, ceiling) and ceiling height at both ends. Walls are rarely perfectly square, so we use the smallest numbers.

Can you match an existing molding profile?

We work from our profile range. Send a photo and a cross-section measurement and we suggest the closest match.
