This is a measured shaker paneling layout for a 16 ft (488 cm) wide wall with an 8 ft (244 cm) ceiling. An 8 ft ceiling is the US standard, so this is the layout most kits are designed around. A 16 ft wall is typical of an open-plan living space, a great room or a long hallway.

Why this layout works
Shaker grids use near-square panels around 24", framed by flat 3" boards. Square-ish panels read as modern and calm; tall thin panels read dated.

How to install
- Mark the rail or ledge height with a laser level.
- Measure the spacing in from each corner and lightly pencil the outlines.
- Fix long pieces first, then work from the centre of the wall outwards.
- Caulk miters, fill seams and paint wall and trim one color for a built-in look.
