This decorative wall molding suits living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms, hallways, stairwells, home offices, nurseries and rented flats. This pre-cut MDF molding is designed for dry interior rooms and should not be installed in wet areas. Use it to build a full feature wall, half wall paneling below a chair rail, a headboard feature or a run of picture frame moulding along a corridor.

HOW TO INSTALL, STEP BY STEP

1. Measure your wall and mark the panel layout with a pencil, a tape measure and a spirit level. Use the printed layout supplied with your kit.
2. Wipe the wall down so it is clean, dry and free of dust.
3. Glue On option: run construction adhesive suitable for MDF along the back of each piece.
4. Peel & Stick option: lift the liner and press the piece straight onto the wall, no adhesive, no drying time and no mess. This is the easiest route to DIY wall molding and the one most first timers choose.
5. Press each length into place and check it against your level before the adhesive grabs.
6. Fill the mitred joints and any small gaps with a flexible decorators filler, then sand lightly.
7. Prime if you wish and paint. The molding takes emulsion, eggshell or satin straight away.

Q: What is the moulding on walls called?
A: Applied frames like these are called picture frame moulding, wall molding or wall trim. When they sit below a chair rail it is usually called wainscoting or half wall paneling.

Q: What is a molding frame?
A: A molding frame is a rectangle built from four lengths of trim fixed directly to the wall. It is not a box, the wall itself forms the panel, and the trim creates the shadow line around it.

Q: Which moulding is best for a wall?
A: This kit uses pre-cut MDF for a crisp, paintable architectural finish. MDF is intended for dry interior rooms.

Q: What are the different types of wall molding?
A: The common ones are picture frame moulding, board and batten, beadboard, slat walls and chair rail wainscoting. This kit is picture frame moulding, which is the most flexible because it can be scaled to any wall.

Q: How can I make a DIY moulding frame?
A: Traditionally you would measure, cut 45 degree mitres and hope the corners close. With a pre cut wall molding kit that step is already done, you mark the layout, fix the pieces and fill the joints.

Q: Does it come with adhesive?
A: The Glue On option does not include adhesive, so you supply a construction adhesive suitable for MDF. The Peel & Stick option arrives with the backing tape already applied and needs nothing else.

Q: Is it easy to paint, and can it be used in a bathroom?
A: Yes to both. The surface is smooth and takes primer and paint in one coat. MDF is intended for dry interior rooms and should not be installed in bathrooms or other wet areas.
