A single oval brings a soft, classical focal point to a bedroom or hallway, and these Accent Wall Oval Panels come in a medium 27.6 x 66.9 inch or a large 37.8 x 77.2 inch size. Buy one, two or three ovals. They are Pre-Cut Paintable MDF, shaped in advance so you only fix, fill and paint.

This arched wall molding kit puts a single curve into a room built entirely out of straight lines, which is why it reads as architecture rather than decoration. The oval is cut to its radius in the workshop, so you are not steam-bending trim on a ladder.

Paint the wall and the molding in one color and the oval reads as a recessed niche. Paint the molding alone and it reads as a frame. Both work; the first is the look most customers go for.

How it goes up

1. Mark the centre line and the spring point where the curve starts.
2. Dry-fit the arch section against the legs before any adhesive goes on.
3. Run construction adhesive along the back and press home, taping until cured.
4. Fill the joints, caulk the edges, prime the cut MDF and paint.

Sizing it to your wall

Measure the wall width and the height from the baseboard to the ceiling, then decide where the top of the arch should sit. Behind a bed, keep a clear margin between the arch and the ceiling.
