Bespoke Ready to Assemble Wall Paneling Package, Factory Primed Half of Wall, Easy Installation. A Half Wall MDF Picture Frame Wainscoting package frames the lower third of the wall with classic rectangles, the traditional height for dining rooms and halls. The standard kit is supplied in Paintable MDF, so it takes primer and enamel paint well and gives a permanent, solid finish.

This picture frame moulding gives a flat wall real architectural depth without the measuring, cutting and mitering a trim project usually involves. The pieces arrive pre-cut and ready to position, so the work on site is adhesive, filler and paint rather than a chop saw and a weekend of dust.

It ships as an interior wall panel solution: numbered parts, a printed layout reference and corners already mitered. That is what separates a real wall paneling kit from a bundle of raw lengths you still have to measure and cut down yourself.

What is in the kit

  • MDF profile with factory-mitered corners
  • Factory primed and ready to paint
  • Numbered pieces and a printed layout reference

How it goes up

  1. Wipe the wall clean and mark the layout for each frame.
  2. Run construction adhesive along the back of each piece.
  3. Press into place from the top rail down, taping or pinning until the adhesive cures.
  4. Fill the joints, caulk the edges, sand lightly and paint.

Sizing it to your wall

Getting the spacing right is the whole job. Measure the wall width and the height between the baseboard and the ceiling or crown, then run those numbers through our free wall panel calculator. It answers how to calculate wall panel spacing and wall panel layout measurements in one step, and returns the frame sizes and the clear gaps between them.

  • Measure wall width and usable height, excluding baseboard and crown
  • Decide how many frames you want across the wall
  • Let the calculator set the margins and gaps so the run stays even corner to corner
  • Order the kit whose layout matches the result

Why MDF

MDF gives a smooth, knot-free face that takes paint evenly, which is why it is the standard for painted mdf wall panels. Prime the cut edges first: raw MDF edges drink paint and will look patchy otherwise.

Where it works

Suited to living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms, hallways and any flat, dry interior wall. Works as a full-height feature wall or as half wall paneling under a chair rail. Not intended for outdoor use, bathrooms with standing moisture, or walls with an ongoing damp problem.
